Aro Ministries awards families for veggie gardens
Winners of this year’s Aro Garden Program (AGP), a competition on backyard-farming, were given their awards on March 15.
Thirty-one residents of different barangays in Calasiao participated this year and the major prizes were awarded to Amador Trinanes (1st prize, P1,000), Buenafe Indong (2nd prize, P800), and Gilda Mapalo (3rd prize, P500).
Consolation prizes of P200 each were given to Annalyn Solis, Floro Jimenez, Fausta Maningding, Ariel Trinanes, Daisy Vinoya, Floro Maningding, Antonino Jimenez, Sheryl Peralta, Maribel Hermosura, Vilma Poserio, Jona Laureto, and Gloria Acedera.
The AGP, sponsored by Aro Ministries, a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco, in partnership with the Calasiao Church of Christ, is aimed at encouraging people to develop vegetable gardens in their backyards for family consumption and help reduce global warming by planting trees and vegetables.
