Women-RUNNERS from Alaminos City dominated the 3rd Dagupan Pinay Idol Marathon’ held last March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Month.

Runners Liza Angan-angan, 14; Honeylyn Julian, 15; and Marivic Casipit, 15, all from Alaminos finished first, second and third, respectively, in the 5-kilometer race.

Alaminos runners in the three-kilometer race also took the top three spots with Mae Ann Ranches,12, coming in first, followed by Jessabel Ancheta,12, and Mary Grace Ragudos,12.

Dagupan City Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr., who fired the starting gun, said the activity demonstrates the strength of women in sports.

The marathon, now on its third year, is a joint project of the city government of Dagupan, city councilor Farah Marie Decano, and the Kiwanis Club of Dagupeña in cooperation with the City Schools Division.

Aside from the cash prizes and medals, the winners also received gift packs from Circulan and Lung Caire Plus.—CSR
