TAYUG–Hundreds of alumni of Luna Colleges here and abroad attended its grand alumni homecoming February 11 to 13.

The homecoming coincided with the 75th founding anniversary of the school, named after hero General Antonio Luna, which started in 1925 in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija.

Linda Mamenta Ramos, college president, and Dr. Francisco Arzadon, registrar, led the celebration that honored the school’s founding fathers who pioneered quality education in Pangasinan.

The school, first known as Luna Memorial Institute and Academic High School, was founded by Jose Melencio, former resident commissioner of the Philippines to Washington D.C.

The Luna Colleges, the first private educational institution that opened in eastern Pangasinan, was later bought by the late Judge Felix Mamenta Sr. in 1934 from the original owners and transferred it to Tayug.—LM
