New police help center to rise in Lingayen
The Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters has approved P2 million budget for the construction of a model Emergency and Assistance Center in Lingayen.
At the same time, the provincial board also passed resolutions authorizing both the use of a 2,000 square-meter lot owned by the provincial government as the site for the centers and Governor Amado Espino Jr. to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the local PNP for the use of the land area for the project.
Albertini de Guzman, municipal administrator of Sta. Barbara town, told provincial board members Monday that Mayor Reynaldo Velasco, a former police general who initiated the project, has been assured by PNP Chief Director General Jesus Verzosa that the funding is set to be released.
The municipal government of Lingayen will also provide a counterpart fund for the center, which is targeted for completion by next month.
Aside from serving as a model PNP building, the structure will also be used as an exhibit area for Pangasinan’s local products.
The site is part of the provincial government’s 19 hectares being utilized as the Provincial Nursery.
De Guzman said the existing PNP municipal building as well as the fire station in the Poblacion will remain in their current location while the new center is expected to boost the local PNP’s quick response capability.#
