THE 2nd Lingayen Cycling Challenge is set on February 22 where the province’s rising amateur riders are expected to compete.

Elated by the success of the first Lingayen cycling project last year, the administration of Mayor Jonas Castaneda is again leading the organization of the event with help from Engr. Gerardo Tiangson and the municipal administrator Polly Baltazar.

“We are holding this event again because we want to contribute to the development of cyclists in the province. We also firmly believe that our young cyclists are ready to be developed and replace soon our aging champions in this field of sports,” CastaƱeda said.

A maximum of 60 contestants will be enlisted for the race that will be flagged off at 11:00 a.m. across the municipal hall and will cover a 140-kilometer distance.

The cyclists will circle four times through a route covering the towns of Binmaley, Bugallon via barangays Matalava-Quibaol-Salasa and back toLingayen passing barangays Magtaking-Bongalon-Domalandan.

Cash prizes, trophies and medals are up for grabs with the top winner pocketing P5,000, while the first and second runners-up will bag P4,000 and P3,000, respectively.

The fourth placer will receive a P2,000; fifth finisher earns P1,000; sixth to tenth finishers will get P500 each.
