LINGAYEN–The provincial unit of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) here was adjudged the country’s Best Criminal Investigation and Detection Team for 2008.

Chief Inspector Rizalino Prado, CIDG provincial director, told local newsmen that their accomplishments last year, including the arrest of more than 100 wanted persons and the neutralization of crime groups, merited their office the recognition.

Prado cited their flagship projects Oplan Pagtugis, which resulted in the arrest of 109 wanted persons, and Oplan Paglalansag, wherein they slowed down the operations of organized crime groups and confiscated 27 shorts firearms and 13 long firearms.

In 2006, the CIDG team received the same award under the stewardship of then Col. Paterno Orduña.

Prado said their team, though small with only with four officers and 19 Police Non-Commissioned Officers covering the entire province, is inspired by the recognition to perform even better.

The award was handed out by Police Chief Superintendent Atty. Raul Castañeda, CIDG director, last January 19 in Camp Crame, Quezon City during the 56th founding anniversary of the Philippine National Police (PNP)-CIDG.#
