3 charged for raping mentally-ill woman

MANAOAG-Three men are now in jail for allegedly raping a 22-year old mentally-ill woman along the riverbank in barangay Tebuel here in the afternoon of January 19.

Police Supt. Mateo Casupang, town chief of police, identified the three suspects as Julius Catengteng, 27; John Razon, 25; and Reynante Carranza, 32, all residents of barangay Pantal.

Casupang said the suspects were immediately arrested by a team he dispatched soon as he received a report of the rape incident.

Two more suspects were arrested during a follow-up operation but were not immediately identified.

The suspects were found to be under the influence of liquor.

The victim was brought to the Region I Medical Center (RIMC) for medical examination and the result showed positive signs of rape.

SHABU SUSPECTS

Meanwhile, two persons found possessing shabu, were arrested by police operatives in separate operations also on Monday along the national highway in Barangay Inamotan here.

Casupang identified the two suspects as Alex Nipales, 45, of barangay Calipaan, Asingan; and Maria Loida Valdez, 43, of Poblacion East, Alcala.

Both suspects were arrested following a tip from informants.

Nipales was flagged down by the police in a checkpoint and confiscated from his possession a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P500.

Valdez, on the other hand, was arrested while in possession of two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P1,000.—CSR
