SAN CARLOS CITY–An infrastructure boom in this city is expected in 2008.

This became evident after the local government has mapped out P250 million worth of infrastructure projects for implementation next year.

According to Mayor Julier Resuello, the projects will be funded through a loan from the Philippine National Bank.

First in the list of projects is a new city hall that will cost P70 million.  Construction  is scheduled to start by January.

The new two-storey building will stand on a more than 2,000 square-meter area at the corner of Rizal and Roxas Streets near the new public market.

Along with the new building is the computerization of the city hall’s records system estimated to cost P15 million.

By the second quarter, a slaughterhouse worth P30 million will be built in Barangay San Pedro.

The cemetery will also be expanded through the purchase of lots worth P15 million.

By the second half of the year, P20 million will be spent for the100 low-cost housing units to be built at the BLISS site in Barangay Pagal.

About P35 million will be used for the purchase of heavy equipment, P4 million for the upgrading of the public market and P41 million for the concreting of barangay road lines.

“We expect that 2008 will be a boom year for our city because of these projects,” Resuello said, adding that he wants the implementation of these projects in succession for proper monitoring and implementation. #
