DAGUPAN City Elections Officer Remarque Ravanzo called on prospective candidates to file their certificates of candidacies notwithstanding the certification by Malacañang of the bill seeking the postponement of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections as “urgent”.

“As far as we in the Comelec (Commission on Elections) are concerned, that was just a certification and we have yet to see a law enacted by Congress really postponing the elections,” Ravanzo said.

A number of candidates have already filed their COC while others are reportedly still biding their time waiting for final word on the move in congress to postpone the elections.

“We are already in the thick of preparation for the elections. We are preparing the voters’ list, including the supplies,” Ravanzo said.

He said supplies to be used in these elections have already been delivered to the city treasurer’s office and more are expected to arrive.

The Provincial Elections Office, through Provincial Elections Supervisor Reddy Balarbar, also reportedly already called Comelec Manila to send all the ballot boxes for the entire province of Pangasinan.

“At this moment, it is now all systems go for us,” he added.—LM
