Laoac tops nutrition award

LINGAYEN – The Laoac municipal government should take a bow.

      It has been cited as this year’s best town in terms of the delivery of nutrition services to the people.

      The town was awarded as the overall champion in the Municipal and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation for Nutrition Program (MELLPI) in ceremonies held last November 15.

      Outstanding barangay nutrition scholars were also recognized during the event, which is part of the provincial government’s human resources development program.

      Governor Victor Agbayani hailed the nutrition workers as “our frontline workers” and underscored their important role in promoting the health and nutrition of Pangasinenses.

       Agbayani launched the annual search for outstanding barangay nutrition scholars, outstanding municipal nutrition action officer and outstanding local government units to highlight his administration’s commitment to the program.

      Laoac received P5,000 and a plaque of recognition while Burgos town, which came in second, received P4,000 and a plaque. Basista ranked third with a P3,000 prize and plaque.

      Adjudged as outstanding barangay nutrition scholars were Dominga Elarde of Buneg, Pozurrubio, Lourdes Samaniego of Sapa Grand, Burgos and Rosana Ladera of Cacasayen, Burgos.
