LINGAYEN – The Kalusugan sa Barangay medical-dental-surgical mission will be intensified next year to cover more far-flung barangays in line with the provincial government’s program to bring free health services to rural areas.

This was announced by Governor Victor Agbayani last week as he noted that some 2,621 indigent patients have been served during the two-day Kalusugan sa Barangay medical-dental-surgical mission last October 26-27 in the towns of Bolinao ang Balungao.

Spearheaded by the governor’s wife, Dr. Jamie Eloise Agbayani, the program has already served over 165,000 patients who have availed of free medical, dental, surgical services, vitamin supplements, medicines, family planning counseling and other health services.

Dr. Agbayani reassured barangay folks of the governor’s commitment in 200 to improve the delivery of health services to the grassroots level as part of his human resources development program.

She explained that the goal of the health project is not only to provide free treatment and medicine to indigent patients but also to educate families on how to live a healthier life through proper nutrition, sanitation, and family planning.
