Romero’s bikefest on Sept. 16

THE national highway linking three municipalities in the fourth district will be traversed anew by the province’s more than 100 professional and amateur accredited cyclists for the Mangaldan Mayor’s Cup bikefest on September 16.

According to Mangaldan Mayor Herminio Romero, the sponsor of the bikefest, the road battle will be run in two categories, the elite and the master divisions which will start and end at Mangaldan passing the municipalities of San Jacinto and San Fabian. The elite riders will cover a distance of 108 kilometers and with a maximum of 60 participants, and 54 kilometers for the master group with a maximum of 50 contestants.

The champion will pocket a cash prize of P5,000 and the first and second runners-up bag P4,000 and P3,000, respectively.

Fourth placer earns P2,000 while fifth finisher nets P1,500, while the sixth up to the tenth placers will be awarded P1,000 each. The champion up to the tenth finishers will receive medal each. All survivors will receive P200 apiece.

The master division champion is worth P4,000 while the first and second runners-up will be awarded P3,000 and P2,000, respectively.

Fourth finisher receives P1,000 while fifth placer is good for P750. All the top ten winners will be given a medal each.

“The race is our contribution to the province’s development of cycling as sports,” Romero said. The event is also in conjunction with the celebration of Mayor Romero’s natal day.
