SWAT members undergo training

LINGAYEN – Forty-one members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) in Pangasinan are undergoing 45-day special training under the auspices of the Special Action Force of the Philippine National Police and the Police Provincial Office.

Police Provincial Director Alan Purisima requested for the training to enable   SWAT personnel in Pangasinan to enhance their preparedness and boost their skills, speed and efficiency in fighting crimes.

Sr. Inspector Restituto Pangusban heads the group of trainors from SAF conducting training on weapons handling, crisis management, hostage rescue and other kinds of emergencies.

Pangusban said similar training is being conducted by SAF in Regions VIII and VI and at the PNP Academy for its cadets.

Under the program, the trainees are taught how to respond effectively in hostage situations that demand special negotiation skills, tact and accuracy in order to save lives.

The SWAT is a special group of policemen specially-trained to handle very delicate missions.

Other members of the training staff are SPO4 Edwin Bajala, PO3 Manuel Abalos and PO2 Danny Agungan.
