Manaoag, not jueteng-free after all

MANAOAG -To make amends for erroneously declaring their town as jueteng-free when in fact it is not, the members of the Sangguniang Bayan are now seeking the relief of their town chief of police.

While withdrawing their previous resolution, the visibly embarrassed municipal councilors have filed a a new resolution seeking the relief of Supt. Michael Nicolas as chief of police of the town.

However, Councilor Jeremy Rosario said the new resolution has not been passed after Police Chief Nicolas asked that he be given more time to eradicate jueteng in the town.

Rosario admitted that the SB was prompted to pass the previous resolution based on the report handed by Nicolas that there is no more jueteng in the town.

In withdrawing their previous resolution, the councilors found that there is still rampant collection of jueteng bets in some barangays, including the town’s poblacion, thus belying the police’s report that Manaoag is jueteng-free. — APE
