2 cops who shot fellow cop killed

VILLASIS – Two policemen tried to kill another fellow policeman but it was the two who ended up dead.

Chief Inspector Jimmy Agtarap confirmed that PO1 James Lu, a resident of barangay Nancayasan, Urdaneta City and assigned in Camp Crame and his companion PO2 Ronaldo Esteban, 34, a resident of barangay Warding, Bayambang town of this province and assigned in Basista police station. 

They died instantly after they were struck not by a return fire but by a speeding 10-wheeler truck from the opposite direction while on board a motorcycle shooting at SPO1 Rufo Dalisay, a member of Rosales police station.

Police investigation showed that the two were riding in tandem on a motorcycle when they were shooting at Dalisay who was then driving his owner-type jeepney with two other passengers.

Dalisay was hit in his right arm but still managed to sideswipe the suspect’s motorcycle that was in the path of an on-rushing 10-wheeler truck from the opposite direction. The two died instantly while Dalisay was brought to the Trauma Hospital here for treatment.

The truck driver, Eddie Gramaje, 39 of barangay Maningding, Sta. Barbaratown was placed under the custody of the police.

hich were all recovered from Lu.

     Also found were three empty shells and two live ammunitions for caliber .38, 14 empty shells of caliber .45 and two cellular phones.
The two fatalities were suspected to have been hired to kill Dalisay but the police could not establish the motive of the crime at presstime.– EVA
