AFTER a failed to attempt to unseat Barangay Chairman Eric Muñoz as local Liga president, some 15 barangay captains are reportedly willing to withdraw their signatures from the petition.

This appeared certain following the visit of to Dagupan of National President of the Liga ng mga Barangay in the Philippines James Marty Lim who confirmed that Muñoz is staying as head of Liga ng mga Barangay until the complaint is settled.

Muñoz reiterated this during a meeting at the city hall, attended by 12 barangay captains who earlier signed the petition against him. Four others simply sent their representatives.

The beleaguered Muñoz said he already has the list of barangay captains who have assured him that they would withdraw their signatures from the petition.

He stressed that he respects the other barangay captains who cannot still accept the decision of Lim that he (Muñoz) is still the legal President of the Liga here.

“I understand their sentiments, so I understand if they are not yet ready to face me,” said Muñoz. But he added that if the barangay captains still do not recognize him, he will request Lim to set an election in order to replace those who have resigned from the Liga.

It will be recalled that 29 barangay chairmen had elected Barangay Chairman Guillermo “Emong” Vallejos  of Poblacion Oeste but  the reorganization was not  authorized. — AQL
