VILLASIS–A world record for talong soon?

After some 10,000 people showed up for the successful grilling of 3,000 kilos of eggplants for the first-ever Talong Grill Festival last week, the  town is ready for next year’s attempt to land in the pages of Guinness Book  of World Records.

Mayor Nonato Abrenica said Wednesday was the happiest day  ever for the townsfolk for their annual town fiesta celebration highlighted  by the Talong Festival which showcased the grand harvest of eggplants, the number one product here.

Despite the scorching heat of the sun, high school students  made the affair more colorful as they, clad in their unique costumes using  the dominant colors of an eggplant, gaily danced and shouted for the street dancing competition noontime.

“How we performed today (Wednesday) will determine our  attempt to land in the Guinness,” Abrenica said.

He said the first Talong Grill was only a dry-run using 500  grills with each grill measuring one meter placed in front of the town hall  that spanned up to the Bagsakan (Trading Post) Market along the McArthur  Highway
