NORMA CRISOLOGO LIONGOREN
A well-known advocate for art and culture from Dagupan City and Quezon City — Ms. Norma Carmelita Crisologo Liongoren — succumbed to a lingering illness last week.
The wife of well known artist Alfredo Liongoren, Norma was born in Lingayen town, on Sept. 22, 1946 to Teodulo Crisologo and Cristina Crisologo, both deceased.
A nursing graduate at the University of Philippines, she trained as a nurse and worked in Manila and in Davao City.
She became a research assistant at the Population Center of the Philippines; then a collector of art and embarked on a career in private art dealing and in March l981, she put up an art gallery in Cubao and began organizing exhibitions for National Artists including the late Victorio Edades, Francisco Sionil Jose, and her high school classmate, Salvador Bernal, Class 62.
In 2001, she was appointed Dagupan City Heritage commissioner, a role that took her to Pangasinan often and helped her provincemates become conscious and proud of their heritage.
She is survived by husband Alfredo, children Erick, Avid and Hannah Mutya L Hornstein and grandchild Lumen Habi. Her siblings are Samuel, Bok, Tess and Bing. Her ash was brought home at the Crisologo residence in Tapuac Dagupan City before interment on Sunday, September at 10 a.m. at the Eternal Gardens.
