FEBRUARY 7, 1922 – JULY 9, 2008
“Juling” Barrozo Muñoz of Modesto, California, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on July 9, 2008. She was 86.
Born in Dagupan City, Juling was the daughter of the late Policarpio and Eduvijes Barrozo. She married Bernabe Muñoz Sr. on June 16, 1940 who died in 1967.
In her younger years, she worked as an elementary school teacher and retired as elementary school principal in Dagupan. She then migrated and worked part-time at the Coleman Brown Elementary School in Modesto, California.
She enjoyed cooking and dutifully spent time with her family. A very generous lady to poor relatives and friends, her late elder brother, Dr. Irineo, used to tease and call her a “poor philanthropist” because she shared whatever she had though she didn’t have much.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Rosemero and Evelyn Muñoz, Dave and Josefa Loucks, Bernabe Jr. and Erlinda Muñoz, Jimmy and Cynthia Muñoz, Oscar and Thelma Muñoz, Francis and Aurora de Vera, Ronnel and Rosemarie Baroña; her grandchildren Roselyn and Ruchel Muñoz, Robert and Julie Ann Loucks, Eric, Bennett, Dennis, Milvin and Bernalyn Muñoz, Jeremy Muñoz, Bernabe Muñoz, Michael, Mark, Pamela, and Marcel de Vera, Angela Baroña; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Aurora Barrozo; her sisters, Emerita, Virginia, Celedonia Barrozo, Maxima and husband Felix Bernal and many nephews and nieces.
Vigil, rosary and celebration of life were done at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel in Modesto, California, attended by her relatives and friends. Dinner was held after.
On July 21, a Holy Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Modesto, California, followed by a reception at Downtown Buffet.
Juliana’s remains arrived in Dagupan City on July 24, 2008.
Her remains now lie in state at her residence, No.178 A.B. Fernandez Avenue East until August 01, 2008.
A funeral mass service will be held at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Cathedral Church on August 02, 2008 to be celebrated by Monsignor Rafael Magno. She will be buried at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Dagupan City.
Reception will be announced later.
