She acknowledged their contributions during a meeting with Barangay Health Workers and other volunteers at the City Plaza on August 29, 2022, following a wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the heroism and greatness of Dr. Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio on National Heroes Day.

The mayor was joined by Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, Councilors Jeslito See and Michael Fernandez, Dagupan City Police Station headed by P/Lt. Col. Vicente Castor Jr.,

As she paid tribute to both national heroes, Mayor Fernandez expressed the city’s gratitude to the BHWs for their devotion to their job, noting that despite their old age (some BHWs continued to serve for over a decade) are still actively performing their tasks today.

The mayor announced trainings would be provided to the BHWs whom she tapped to  promote the city government’s Unliserbisyo health programs to residents in the barangays, to enhance their knowledge and skills in community service. (CIO)
