DTI warns storeowners’ overpricing of construction materials

PANGASINENSES are taking advantage of the summer season to build houses.

On this, DTI Provincial Director Nathalie Dalaten said the higher demand for construction materials are being exploited by unscrupulous construction storeowners, hence, DTI is closely monitor the prices of cement bags, hollow blocks, GI sheets, nails and wires.

So far, DTI noted that cement bags have risen by P3 to P5, hollow blocks a one-peso increase, GI sheets are up by P2-P6 nails by P6 to P8, steel wires by P5, and steel bars by P3.

Suggested Retail Prices may be seen at the DTI website for reference to help check overcharging by stores and DTI storeowners of penalties if overpricing is proven.

Dalaten urged the public to freely file their complaints with the DTI provincial office in Dagupan City on Arellano Street, beside Nepo Mall. (Ahikam Pasion)
