Bangus holding facility in Alaminos City inaugurated

THE region’s first and newest Bangus  Holding Facility located at the Regional Mariculture Technology Demonstration Center (RMATDEC) in Alaminos City was inaugurated on February 13.

The inauguration was attended by BFAR Regional  Director, Rosario Segudina Gaerlan, BFAR Region 3 Director and NBDP National Focal Person Wilfredo Cruz along with Alaminos City Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste.
A project of BFAR through the National Bangus Development Program, the facility was built to meet the increased demand for bangus fry in Region I.

According to BFAR Regional Director Gaerlan, about 1.2 million bangus fry can be produced using the facility.
The facility will serve as a makeshift building for the production of bangus fish larvae or sperm that will be derived from the bangus eggs produced at the RMATDEC stations.  (Kim Gealogo)
