 Short supply of chicken forces higher price per kilo 

DEMAND for dressed chicken in the public market of Villasis noticeably dropped because its selling price spiked to P220  per kilo due to short supply of chicken,

A vendor, Vangie Magtael, said chicken are normally not dressed until they reach their normal sizes  and since chicken eat less during the cold weather their growth is retarded. The other reason for the high price is what’s being sold are supplied from outside the province.

Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture regional office reported that is P200 per kilo. (Mark Espinoza)

 Dagupan’s fishermen, farmers receive cash-for work under TUPAD

SOME 365 farmers and fishermen in Dagupan City received cash assistance under the program Tulong Panghanap-buhay para sa  Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged workers (TUPAD). They received wages for their 10-day cash-for-work community service under TUPAD, a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The payout, held at the Dagupan City Plaza, was witnessed by Mayor Belen Fernandez and Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia. (Badz Agtalao)

 CHED  provides cash grant from for college students

 THE Commission on Higher Education (CHED) gave 130 college students in the Third District P25,000 each as cash grant through the intercession of Third District Rep. Rachel Arenas. The amount was granted under the program CHED-Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) to enable them to continue their college education.

The students were urged to have the discipline to use the grant exclusively for their studies so they can achieve their dreams, graduate and have a better life. (Badz Agtalao)

 Ex-kagawad hunted for stabbing 

 A porridge vendor was stabbed to death by a former Kagawad while playing a card game at a wake in Barangay Umanday, Bugallon town. The victim was identified as Manuel Sapigao of Barangay Umanday, Bugallon, who sustained several stab wounds in different parts of his body and died while he was being treated at a hospital in Lingayen.

The suspect was identified as one Dennis Victorio, also of Barangay Umanday, who escaped after the stabbing and is now the object of intensive manhunt by the Bugallon police. (Badz Agtalao)
