Egg production in Pangasinan farms slow down

By May 28, 2023Business

POULTRY and egg farms in Pangasinan are currently experiencing problems because of the weather.

According to the Provincial Agriculture Office, one reason for the low egg production may be blamed on the hens’ metabolism that slows down during hot climate.

Aside from the low volume of egg production, eggs laid by hens are smaller than usual due to erratic weather conditions.

Egg sizes were normally larger over the same period last year.

Eggs also spoil quickly due to hot weather, as bacteria easily grow on warm temperatures.

These concerns have not reached serious proportions because egg supply in markets are still stable.

However, this may soon end if the hot (and cold) climate stays for longer periods.  (Ahikam Pasion)
