Attempt to sell decaying malaga, tilapia in market foiled

By May 28, 2023Business

A TEAM from the City Agriculture Office (CAO), and personnel of the City Health Office (CHO), discovered 239 kilos of malaga and 20 kilos of tilapia, molmol type, all showed signs of decay while on a routine inspection at the Magsaysay Fish Market.

The discovery of dead fish at the Magsaysay Market was reported to the Dagupan Police by Imelda Bustamante, 53, sanitary inspector III of the CHO, and Rolando Dulay, 42, agricultural technologist of the CAO, thwarted attempts to pass it on to unsuspecting customers by illegal traders.

It puzzled market authorities how the dead fish managed to slip through Magsaysay Market without the necessary documents showing the origin and the permit to transport.

This incident was still under investigation by both the CAO and the Dagupan police on order of Mayor Belen Fernandez at presstime.

The rotten cargo were turned over to the Waste Management Division (WMD) for proper disposition. (Leonardo Micua)
