No more ASF in Pangasinan – Prov’l Vet Office

By January 15, 2023Business

THE Provincial Veterinary Office has certified that there are no more cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) after successful implementation of the program instituted by the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) of the Department of Agriculture in the province to date.

Dr. Jovito Tabarejos, OIC Pangasinan Provincial Veterinarian, said all sentinel pigs under the sentineling program of the BAI that involved educational campaign to ensure observance of strict bio security measures by hog raisers grew and did not die.

However, only the DA can declare that Pangasinan is now ASF-free.

Tabarejos said that his office continues to take steps in order to expand the hog industry in Pangasinan after it was set back by less than three years because of ASF.

He expressed confidence that soon as Pangasinan is declared ASF-free, more traders will come to Pangasinan to buy hogs and restore the once profitable business activity for

backyard raising by households.

IFM Dagupan gathered that meat vendors at the Malimgas Market already enjoyed a brisk sale of pork and chicken on account of the last Yuletide season. (Jhon Caranto).
