Farmers get fuel discount cards from DA
FUEL DISCOUNT PROGRAM
THE Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 1 (DA-RFO1) distributed P3,987,000 worth of P3,000 fuel discount cards to 1,329 corn farmer-beneficiaries belonging to farm cooperatives and associations in 10 towns in Pangasinan.
Jennilyn Dawayan, DA-RFO1executive director, said the program seeks to cushion the impact of the price of oil while maximizing the use and utilization of their farm machineries and mechanical equipment in their farm operations.
The rollout of the fuel discount cards was held at the Tayug National High School in Tayug town and at Don Ramon J. Guico Sr. Sport and Civic Center in Binalonan town.
Last August 30,725 corn farmers in Tayug, Natividad, Rosales, San Manuel, San Quintin, and San Nicolas, 604 corn farmers in Binalonan, Manaoag, Sison, and San Jacinto who received the fuel discount cards on August 31.
“Malaking tulong po ito sa aming magsasaka kasi minsan nangungutang po kami para sa mga gagamitin, sa gasolina lalo na’t mataas ang presyo. (This is a big help for us farmers because we sometimes borrow money for farm inputs and gasoline)“, Myrna Raquedan, a corn farmer from Rosales, said. (PIA Pangasinan/AMMB)
