DAGUPAN’S OLDEST

THE 75-year old Sanitary Bakery was cited by the Dagupan Sangguniang Panlungsod as another enterprising icon in the city as a “compelling testimonial of the industry, resilience and dedication of the many generations of its early founders and the current management.

In a resolution proposed by Councilor Dennis Canto, the SP congratulated the management of the iconic Sanitary Bakery on A.B. Fernandez Avenue, as it marked its75th year anniversary last August 13.

The resolution took note that Sanitary Bakery is easily one of the most identifiable icons of Dagupan’s humble rise as a cosmopolitan community and its history as an enterprise.

The Sanitary Bakery was founded by the family of incumbent Councilor Jeslito Seen. Its  ownership remains with the Seen family.

The SP resolution cites the Seen family’s long culinary heritage and engagement with the people of Dagupan and the province of Pangasinan for consistently serving high quality hot bread, pastries and other baked products, and “is inescapably etched as one of the most enduring culinary tradition of the city at the time  of the inception of Dagupan as a city on June 20, 1947.”

“The 75th anniversary of Sanitary Bakery should, therefore, be honored, cherished and celebrated for inspiring entrepreneurial spirit that Dagupenos are well known for,” the resolution added. (Leonardo Micua)
