CHICKEN FROM R-2 BANNED

FOLLOWING reported incidents of confirmed cases of avian flu in Isabela, Governor Amado Espino III issued an executive order implementing temporary total ban on the entry of chicken and all chicken products from Region 2 effective immediately.

Espino’s E.O. No. 0030-2022 on April 25,  2022 took note of the Department of Agriculture regional office’s report confirmed that around 200 chicken in Isabela have died caused by avian flu virus or H5N1.

The governor deputized Provincial Veterinarian Quarantine Officers to establish quarantine checkpoints in the possible entry points of chicken shippers from Region 2, particularly the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway and other strategic road lines.

Espino also ordered mayors of component towns and cities to strengthen biosafety and hygiene and sanitation standards in slaughterhouses/abattoirs, public markets and poultry farms in their respective areas of jurisdiction.

Pangasinan earlier implemented a temporary total ban on the entry of quails and ducks from Bulacan and Pampanga from April 15 to March 31, which was already lifted. (Leonardo Micua)
