DOLE warns employers vs ‘No Jab, No Work’ policy

THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Pangasinan warned employers against the implementation of the ‘No Vaccine, No Work’ policy reportedly being considered by some.

Agnes Aguinaldo, DOLE-Pangasinan head, said the employer-employee relationship should not be strained if the employee refuses or fails to be inoculated.

She said the agency’s Labor Advisory No. 3, released on March 12 this year, states that while employers should encourage their employees to get vaccinated, their refusal to do so should not be a reason for an employee’s dismissal.

She said requiring job applicants or workers to submit a vaccination card as a condition before being accepted or considered for promotion is discriminatory at the same time she stressed that it is the employee’s right to reject vaccination if he or she is still not ready to be inoculated.

Aguinaldo reminded employers that employees should not be made to shoulder costs of company vaccination.

To date, DOLE-Pangasinan has not received complaints vs. companies invoking the imposition of the ‘No jab, no work’ policy. (Ahikam Pasion)
