SOME 100 sari-sari store owners in this city received P3,500 each during the soft launching of the Pilipinas Sari Sari Store Community project last July 6 held at the West Central School.

Former House Speaker and Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano who initiated the project led in the ceremonial turnover of cash aid and grocery items to the 100 sari-sari store beneficiaries.

Cayetano was accompanied by his wife, Taguig Rep. Lani Cayetano, along with City Mayor Marc Brian Lim, councilor Cisco Jay Flores and other officials in the distribution of the financial assistance.

Cayetano told the recipients that they may use the P1,000 for their family’s basic needs and the P2,500 as additional capital for their sari-sari stores.

He also told the beneficiaries that their only obligation or responsibility is to further develop their sari-sari store business.

The former House Speaker reiterated his call for the P10,000 ayuda for every Filipino family. He said that he and his allies in Congress have filed a bill to institutionalize the P10,000 ayuda for every Filipino family.

“Kung may time po ang inyong mga anak sa Facebook, puntahan ang Congress, Senado at Malakanyang website, sabihin nyo na gusto nyo ‘yung sampung libong ayuda,” Cayetano added.

He said that if every Filipino family is given P10,000 livelihood assistance, the country’s economy will grow since the money will be used further for livelihood.

He said this type of financial aid is what’s needed by the Filipino families during COVID-19 pandemic.

For his part, Lim thanked Cayetano for bringing his program to the city and provided more business opportunities for 100 sari-sari store owners to grow. (Cesar Ramirez)
