TUPAD beneficiaries in San Carlos City paid P3,400

THE 130 workers employed under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) were finally paid their earnings on May 18.

Th DOLE-Ilocos Regional Office disbursed P442,000.00 to cover their P3,400 individual benefits which was facilitated by USSC, a money remittance service provider of the agency.

Under the TUPAD, the workers rendered a 10-day community cleanup and beautification service in their barangays that included cleaning of roads and canals, cutting and planting of trees from April 16-25, 2021.

Prior to the employment, beneficiaries were given basic orientation about the program and safety and health standards amid the threat of COVID-19.

TUPAD, is an employment package of the national government that provides assistance to displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, rates of which depended on the nature of work to be performed. (Jerick Pasiliao)
