THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) turned-over Solar-Powered Irrigation System (SPIS) worth PHP. 1 B to 30 Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) here on Tuesday.

Assistant Regional Director for Administration of DAR Region 1 and concurrent Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer, Ana Francisco said the project implemented under the DAR’s Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support (CRFPS), seeks to boost the yield of farmer-beneficiaries.

The program will reduce production cost of our farmers since they will no longer buy gasoline for their generator sets. One system can irrigate at three to five hectares of farm land.

DAR Secretary John Castriciones led the turnover ceremony.

Meanwhile, DAR is also working with other government agencies to aid farmers on the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program by linking ARBOs to various national and local government agencies to market their products.

In Pangasinan, six ARBOs supply vegetables and milled rice to BJMP facilities in Urdaneta City, Dagupan City, Tayug, and Balungao towns and Department of Agriculture.  (Jerick Pasiliao)
