A FORMER city mayor and the incumbent vice mayor of Alaminos have tested positive for COVID-19.

Former Mayor Arthur Celeste confirmed on his Facebook page on March 17 that his RT-PCR test showed he was positive for COVID-19 despite his doubled efforts to be careful and following minimum health standards, he was still infected with the virus.

He said he is okay and currently confined in a hospital to closely monitor his health condition.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Anton Perez II also posted on his Facebook account that he is patient 134 in the city’s COVID-positive cases.

He, too, said he is in good condition and treatment has started.

Perez believed he was exposed to the virus when he had a meeting in an air-conditioned room on March 7 and he and his companion removed their masks to eat and continued a discussion.

He later learned in the evening that the person he had a meeting with tested positive.

The person had a travel history and experienced throat itchiness.

Perez went on isolation in their Alabang home and was asymptomatic until he had sore throat and fever on March 10, prompting him to undergo swab test. The result on March 11 showed he was positive for COVID-19. (Eva Visperas)
