Priority for vaccines: Health workers of R1MC, PPH

THE first health front liners in Pangasinan to be vaccinated with the anti-COVID-19 vaccines that are set to arrive in the country by the second or third week of February are health workers from the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) as well as those from the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital.

This was disclosed by Dr. Ivy Palma, who represented Department of Health Regional Director Valeriano Perez during the Question Hour of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on February 1.

Palma said once the vaccines arrive in Manila, there will be a national launch of the
anti-COVID-19 vaccination program.

She confirmed that regional director, Dr. Valeriano Lopez, is in the process of securing  slots for primary health workers in Pangasinan, the Region 1 Medical Center and the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital, to be part of the roll on.

She added that they deserve to be among the first priorities for the vaccination because Pangasinan has many COVID-19 cases as compared to the other provinces in Region 1 like La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.

She added that based on the information shared to them during the training of trainors of the DOH on January 14, the vaccines will be administered in fixed posts, like a health facility or a barangay health station. (Leonardo Micua)
