THE liquor ban in Calasiao has been lifted effective Feb. 9 based on the executive order issued by the town mayor.

Executive Order No. 27 signed by Mayor Joseph Arman Bauzon has lifted the ban on the sale, distribution and consumption of liquor and other alcoholic beverages after noting the steady decrease in the new cases of COVID-19 in the town as reported by the Municipal Health Office.

“Establishments are ordered to strictly follow the minimum health standards and protocols as set forth by the IATF-EID (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases),” the order said.

The order also prohibited sharing of glasses, bottles and other utensils at all times when drinking liquor.

Establishments and persons violating the existing IATF-EID guidelines, protocols and laws will be penalized and sanctions imposed as deemed fit by the Municipal Task Force on COVID-19.

The mayor reimposed a liquor ban earlier after local transmissions of COVID-19 were suspected to have been brought about by alcohol consumption that led to loss of inhibition and discipline in social gatherings. (Eva Visperas)
