CABINET Secretary Karlo Nograles, co-chair of the COVID-19 Interagency Task Force (IATF), said there is a big dependence on the  local government units (LGUs) for the success of the vaccination program.

Nograles, who was in Dagupan City on Feb. 11 for the Presidential Communications Operations Office Roadshow, said “the vaccine is the only way to end this nightmare called COVID-19”.

He said the lockdowns and community quarantines implemented were to prevent the situation from worsening “but the vaccine is the one seen as the key in solving the problem”.

“We have to roll-out the vaccination program after Valentine’s Day,” he said.

Meanwhile, the roadshow will continue to look into the level of preparedness of LGUs who he said have always been at the forefront in the government’s vaccination program like anti-measles, polio, among others.

He is confident that once the roll-out of the vaccines starts, the confidence level of the people will further go up to have that attitude of “to see is to believe”.

“So far we have seen that the LGUs are prepared. They are in fact already very eager,” he added. (Eva Visperas)
