Police warn against new modus vs. senior citizens

THE Lingayen Police Station has warned against the new modus operandi of crime syndicates targeting senior citizens who withdraw money from banks.

This is after four suspected members of the budol budol gang victimized a retired policeman who withdrew money at an ATM in Landbank located on Avenida Rizal Street, Poblacion in Lingayen town.

P/Lt. Ruderick Tamondong, duty officer, said the victim, Celedonio Boquiren Sr., retired Philippine Constabulary and resident of Espino St. In Poblacion Lingayen, was approached by suspects Mirasol dela Cruz of Barangay Burgos, Moncada, Tarlac and Strella Galvez, of Carmen Rosales, Merlinda Cruz of San Manuel, Tarlac and Remedios dela Cruz of San Miguel Tarlac accosted him and took the P55,000 cash from his pocket.

Fortunately, the victim’s son, P/SMS Alvin Boquiren, also a police retiree, arrived and arrested the suspects.

The suspects were taken to the Lingayen Police Station and P55,000 cash was recovered from the possession of Dela Cruz. (Nora Dominguez)
