‘Singing cop’ shoots lover dead
A 23-year-old woman, who works at the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in San Carlos City, was shot dead by her policeman lover July 7.
P/Lt. Colonel Franklin Ortiz, San Carlos City chief of police, identified the victim as Renalyn Soriano Aquino, a resident of Barangay Baybay Lopez in Binmaley town.
Ortiz said when residents of Barangay Cacaritan rushed to the area where gunshots were heard early Tuesday morning, they saw Aquino lying bloodied sprawled on the barangay road with two gunshot wounds on the head.
The police recovered two empty caliber 9mm shells.
Follow-up investigation led to the arrest of the suspect Patrolman Tranquilino Sanchez Germono, a resident of Urbiztondo, and assigned to the Pangasinan 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) based in Alaminos City.
The police were able to track Germono from a CCTV footage that showed him riding in tandem with the victim, entering a corner in Barangay Cacaritan.
Germono was immediately arrested, and put under inquest proceedings in San Carlos City, July 8. He is currently in the San Carlos City PNP jail.
His motive for killing his lover is still unclear, and is still being investigated.
