Businessman shot by two hitmen

A businessman in Calasiao was shot by two still unidentified persons in the town’s Barangay Poblacion last Sunday.

Calasiao Police Chief P/ Lt. Colonel Joseph Fajardo said the victim, Ronald Anthony Romero, 36, had just alighted from his vehicle when two men approached him and shot him. But Romero survived the attack.

The suspects immediately fled using a still unidentified vehicle, he added.

The police recovered 11 spent cartridges, one slug, and two metal fragments coming from a caliber 45, while three slugs of the same caliber were recovered from the victim’s body.

As of writing, Romero is still under observation in a hospital in Dagupan City.

Motive behind the shooting is still being investigated although Fajardo said business or personal grudges against him are being looked into.

Initial investigation shows Romero, former caretaker of the now deceased former Board Member Raul Sison’s fighting cocks, is currently engaged in buy and sell of fighting cocks. (Ahikam Pasion)
