Epic fail: two robbers picked the wrong victim

JUST when two robbery suspects armed with a fan knife thought they spotted an easy victim, they ended up in a worse situation they never imagined.

P/Corporal Lawrence Ocampo was off-duty and was walking by the street in Barangay San Miguel in Calasiao town, when he was suddenly accosted by two men riding a motorcycle.

The backrider, Rafael Macasieb, a resident of Barangay Calbeg in Malasiqui, alighted and armed with a fan knife, threatened Ocampo and demanded that he gives them his sling bag.

They realized their mistake when Ocampo took a step back, introduced himself as a policeman then drew his firearm and told them to stand down because he was arresting them.

Macasieb and his rider, Jeric Gabriel, also a resident of Barangay Calbeg, knew their fan knife was no match to their victim’s pistol, meekly surrendered.

When responding policemen arrived and frisked the two, they found two pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, and two fan knives, one used by Macasieb, and the other knife from Gabriel’s pocket.

The police are currently investigating robbery cases using their modus operandi in Calasiao and in nearby towns that they could have been involved in.

Cases of attempted robbery and violation of Republic Act 9165, Dangerous Drugs Act have been filed against them. (Ahikam Pasion)
