FOR REAL PROPERTY TAXES

THE provincial board directed the extension of deadline to avail of the 20 percent discount for payment of current real property taxes to from March 31 to May 31, 2020.

Third District Board Member Angel Baniqued Jr, author of the ordinance, cited as premise the Provincial Ordinance No. 166-2012 dated November 12, 2012 on Tax Discount on Advance Payment that provides  “if the basic real property and additional Special Education Fund tax for the current year are paid in full on or before March 31 of the tax year, then a 20 percent discount shall be granted to the taxpayer”.

He said as the provincial government adopts more measures to implement guidelines for the imposition of the Enhanced Community Quarantine and for the management of COVID-19, there is a need to lighten the burden of real property owners in the province in the payment of current real property taxes in the light of the alarming situation brought about by COVID-19 and in compliance with the directives on Enhanced Community Quarantine.

In approving the resolution, the SP found it meritorious to extend the deadline for the availment of the 20 percent discount for the payment of current real property taxes. (Leonardo Micua/PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
