THE Dagupan Sangguniang Panlungsod adopted two important resolutions that seek to alleviate the difficult situation confronting city residents for the duration of the national emergency health crisis.
During its regular session last April 14, the SP presided by Vice Mayor Bryan Kua and all councilors present wearing face masks passed Resolution No. R-5916 and Resolution No. R-5917, both authorizing Mayor Brian Lim to enter into memoranda of agreements with government agencies and the hotel owners respectively.

Resolution No. R-5916 calls for an agreement with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Agriculture for the provision of social amelioration benefits to qualified city residents that cannot go to work and earn a living because of the restrictions imposed by current Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Resolution (No. R-5917) calls for an agreement with hotels and similar establishments to provide accommodation to both returning Overseas Filipino Workers who may be stranded in the city and frontline health workers who cannot go home because of their present work in hospitals and other care institutions because of the protocol imposed by the Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Meanwhile, Ordinance No. 746 prohibiting and penalizing any act of discrimination against health workers, OFWs, Patients under Investigation (PUIs) and Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) in their respective barangays due to COVID-19 was approved on first reading. (Leonardo Micua)
