THE Basista municipal government recently granted P611,000 in cash aid to hog raisers in four barangays affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF).

Mayor Jolly Resuello said the cash aid fulfilled Basista government’s promise to pay P1,000 per hog to the 135 hog raisers whose hogs were affected by ASF in January and March.

He added that the money will help the hog raisers during the crisis period brought about the COVID-19 pandemic.

He cited the help of the municipal council headed by Vice Mayor Dante Bustarde, Municipal Agriculturist Rodal Sacramed, Municipal Treasurer Aida Solomon and town police chief Capt. Arturo Melchor, for making the payout efficiently to the qualified recipients.

The beneficiaries and the number of hogs affected were in Barangays Cabel (78 raisers, 340 heads), Dumpay (34 raisers, 179 heads), Anam (10 raisers, 36 heads), Palma (13 raisers, 56 heads).

Total heads culled and paid were 611.

Piglets affected by ASF were not included in the headcount of hogs paid by the town.
