THE town of Bani is back as COVID-19-free as the test results of its lone Patient Under Investigation (PUI) from Barangay Ranao who died March 25 at the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan City, proved negative.

According to Mayor Gwen Palafox-Yamamoto, the test results of the PUIs specimen by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) was bared April 1 to the town’s Inter-Agency Task Force stating that the PUI “tested negative of the Corona Virus Disease-2019 (COVID-19)”.

Yamamoto placed Barangay Ranao, where the dead came from, and the adjacent Barangay Quinaoayanan under Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine while contact tracing, as well as other more stringent measures, were implemented pending the results of the test.

While calling on her constituents to patiently continue to stay at home and remain safe, she thanked the people of Barangays Ranao and Quinbaoayanan for their sacrifice after she ordered a lockdown in their villages.

At the same time, she called on all frontliners, who include the police “to keep our beloved town COVID-free.”  (Leonardo Micua)
