A teacher from Sta. Maria town was found dead in a rice field in Tayug last Tuesday allegedly killed by two 17-year-old boys.

P/Major Wilmer Pagaduan, Tayug police chief, said the victim Arnaldo Tabucol, was found dead by a resident in Barangay Libertad with his throat slit open.

Police’s initial investigation, showed that the victim was last seen having a drinking spree with the suspects who were his former students.

However, when Tabucol failed to return home, his family immediately reported their concern about his whereabouts to the police in Santa Maria.

“After diligent coordination, we were able to eventually identify the victim as the missing teacher from the nearby town”, said Pagaduan.

Further investigation revealed that the victim’s motorcycle, and other belongings were missing, prompting the police to look into the angle of robbery-homicide.

The town’s Oplan Sita operation led to the arrest of one of the suspects who had some of the stolen items in his possession.

After being subjected to questioning, the minor eventually admitted to the crime, and confessed that his companion escaped, too, after killing the victim.

Police learned that the suspects were former students of the victim.

“We are still conducting further investigation to piece everything together – including the motive”, said Pagaduan.

The police are continuing their manhunt operation against the other minor suspect. (Ahikam Pasion)
