THE local government unit of Mangaldan decided to postpone the celebration of its Pindang Festival, slated on the first week of March this year after a dialogue with stakeholders last week.

“The objective of the postponement is to protect all residents and tourists from the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)”, said Councilor Aldrin Soriano, Chairman of Committee on Information, Mass and Social Media of The Sangguniang Bayan of Mangaldan.

Last Tuesday, February 11, Mayor Marilyn Lambino and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Larry Sarito led a dialogue with stakeholders and people of different sectors on the threats of Covid-19.

“The dialogue was fruitful, many people from different sectors joined the dialogue to express their take on the suggestion of postponement,” said Soriano.

Ultimately, the assembly decided to postpone the annual town festival.

The Executive Order for the postponement of the festival and its rescheduling will be released soon.

Earlier Monday, on February 10, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan adopted the resolution discouraging the holding of gatherings and assemblies in all LGUs and their jurisdiction. (Ahikam Pasion)
