Farmers get more help from Capitol

BEFORE the year 2019 ended, farmers in Pangasinan received agricultural equipment, vegetable seeds, and trading capital from the provincial government through Governor Amado Espino III.

The more than 100 farmers and irrigators associations and cooperatives in Agno, Alaminos City, Anda, Bani, Bolinao, Burgos, Dasol, Infanta, Mabini, Sual, Aguilar, Binmaley, Basista, Bugallon, Labrador, Lingayen, Mangatarem, Urbiztondo, Bayambang, Calasiao, Sta. Barbara, Malasiqui, Manaoag, Mangaldan, San Fabian, Binalonan, Urdaneta City, Balungao, Umingan, Sta. Maria, and Tayug received units of shallow tube wells.

The shallow tube wells were funded by the National Irrigation of Administration (NIA) to counter the effects of the coming El Nino phenomenon.

Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya said each shallow tube well is expected to irrigate some 100 hectares of farmlands during the dry season.

Meanwhile, 23 fisherfolk from municipal and city aquatic and fisheries council also received one unit of shallow tube wells each while organizations from Calasiao, Urdaneta City, Sual, Malasiqui, Sta. Maria, Mapandan, Bautista, Lingayen, Bugallon, San Fabian, and others were provincial associations received vegetable seeds. Trading capital was awarded to Philippine Rural Development Program proponent groups from Bani, Urdaneta City, and Alcala. (Leonardo Micua)
