Lingayen Jaycees’ LIBLIBrary earns merit award

FOR launching a library project in a remote barangay in Pangasinan, the  Junior Chamber International (JCI)-Lingayen Liberation II received a national award, its first Temiong (Merit) award three years after its founding in 2016.

Temiong Awards is the highest award given by the JCI Philippines to its local chapters in recognition of outstanding projects and programs implemented.

Incoming President Mark Gerry Oblanca said the LIBLIBrary project which banners the theme: “Today a reader, tomorrow a LEADER.”

The project was launched in June in Sitio Baito, Sual town highlighted by the turnover of a mini-library, a story telling activity and cultural presentation by the school children in the said Indigenous Peoples (IPs) community.

The award was received chapter officials by Oblanca, and Immediate Past President Mark Micu from 2019 JCI Philippines National President Paul Jess Estrelado

“Aside from the merit award, the chapter was included in the Top 10 finalists in the following project and program, and individual categories: Best Environment Development Program (Tara na sa Cayanga! JCI Members as Eco Warriors Against Climate Change), Most Outstanding JCI Project Chairman (JCI Mem. Mark Gerry Naval Oblanca), Best Local Personal Skills Development Program (Building Leaders: Gearing Up the Future Public Administrators), Best Global Goals Project (#ProjectAliguas: Expanding its Contribution to the UNSDGs), Most Outstanding New JCI Member (JCI Mem. Mark Marlon de Vera), Most Outstanding JCI Member (JCI Mem. Drew Botulan), Most Outstanding LO President – Category 3 (JCI Mem. Mark Micu)

Two projects of the chapter were selected as contender for the forthcoming JCI World Congress: #ProjectAliguas, an Indigenous Peoples Development Advocacy, and the #PamamahayagPagmulat. (PIA Pangasinan)
