THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Ilocos regional field office has awarded outstanding Pangasinan parent-leaders and groups of Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps) and among them are from Balungao town.

Marcelo Nicomedes Castillo, DSWD-1 regional director said his field office was the first to give awards as part of the strengthening of the program, which is now on its 10^th year of implementation.

The regional winner for the Natatanging (outstanding) Parent Leader was Melani Sibayan from Balugao while the Angat Leonisians Parent Group also from Balungao was 3^rd runner-up in the Natatanging Parent Group.

 “The winners received trophies and cash prizes,” Castillo said.

The winners were chosen based on a criteria set.

 “The winners are those who do extra-ordinary accomplishments, who go beyond what the program gives,” Castillo said.

The regional director also cited the contributions of other government agencies, local government units (LGUs) and civil society organizations (CSO) who are partners of DSWD in the implementation of 4Ps.

The awarding was held at Dagupan City on October 11. (Helen Martin)
